Poetry Editing Workshop, or At Least Ten Ways to Edit Your Poems
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned poet, this editing workshop will give you practical tips and techniques to refine your work
Do you have a pile of draft poems but are unsure about what to do next? As an editor and mentor, I often work with others on how to tackle rough drafts of new work - but I know that 1/1 mentoring isn’t for everyone.
To offer access to these tools to a broader range of poets, I’ve developed a newly-extended 90 minute workshop about how you can put new work through its paces (I should have just called it “At Least Ten Ways to Edit Your Poems”). During the session, I’ll suggest practical tips and things to consider when shaping individual pieces, and will leave you with a checklist that you'll return to when editing future work.
The workshop will take place on Friday 2nd of May from 9:30-11am London time, with the recording available (for those who can’t attend live) until 5th May. You can find out more and register here.
Of course, you don’t have to have written at Marjorie’s Table to attend this workshop. But if you have been writing with me across April, I'll be using poems from those sessions as examples in this new workshop, and translating some of the brief craft notes I've given into concrete editing considerations.
As ever, bursary/free places are available, with no questions asked and no explanation needed - just get in touch if you'd like one.
